"Lost": The Latest Clues

Thursday February 9, 2006
Wednesday's "Lost" episode revealed several important points -- but are they clues or just simply red herrings?
  • Kate's mother was in Sawyer's flashback (she was the waitress at the diner). Is this driving home the point that all the survivors are connected to each other somehow (Sayid on TV during Kate's flashback, Hurley owning the box company Locke worked for, Shannon's father in the ER while Jack saved Sarah)?

  • The manuscript Hurley was reading is titled "Bad Twin" and was written by Gary Troup, whose name is an anagram for purgatory (the writers have already stated that the survivors are not dead and are not in purgatory). Amazon.com has the full description of the book, which goes on sale May 2, 2006.

  • Why was Locke alphabetizing the books? It is clear he was looking for something in the books. The book he was holding is a short story titled, "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" by Ambrose Bierce.

  • The song on the radio was 'Moonlight Serenade' by the Glen Miller Band. Glen Miller was presumed dead when his plane went down over the English Channel during World War II. The plane in Charlie's vision was a double-fin, World War II-type model.

  • From another time....Was Hurley's statement about time a clue? Are they in some sort of time experiment?

  • Why is it that every time there is trouble, we see Vincent?
Why do there always seem to be more questions than answers? It may be years before we get the whole picture. In fact, I've finally given up on trying to figure out what the show is "all" about. I'm just enjoying the clues and where they take me. I don't recall ever watching a show that requires so much research -- and I'm loving every minute of it! (Photo: Copyright © ABC)

(1) MICHAEL WALLACE says:

Look folk’s the answer is obvious.When the final episode of the final season is seen on our tv’s the end will mesh with the beginning,so that when the re-runs are shown year in year out,they won’t look like re-runs,neither will they become dated.I’ll explain,the final survivers will all go back in time to the point before the crash and do it all again ok.some will probably go back further than others.at the end of everything though i think the entire story will last forever as re-runs.think about it “the end will be the episode that comes before the original first pilot episode…so when a re-run starts from the pilot it will have an intro that says “previously on lost”and it will show everyone getting on the plane ,etc.they do it because they miss everyone that died,but they don’t change anything because they’re too affraid of what might happen if they change things.you see,a tv show that lasts forever ….round n round n round n round………..n round n round forever……………..cool
