This Week in Television News....

Thursday February 16, 2006
This week's news includes Dr. McDreamy's racecar dreams, an ex-witch causes an accident and a major ratings upset -- not much to report this week in TV land, but as usual, life is always interesting....
  • As if being in the middle of television's hottest love triangle isn't enough, "Grey's Anatomy" star Patrick Dempsey has officially entered the world of Indy Racing. Dempsey has become the co-owner of the Vision Racing team. The season begins on March 26th and Dempsey's two drivers could start in as many as 14 racing throughout the season, including the Indianapolis 500. (Source: E! Online)

  • In other "Grey's Anatomy" news....for the first time ever, those "Housewives" were knocked down a notch in the ratings. The 'Code Black' was a huge success, putting the interns ahead in the ratings war on Sunday, scoring a whopping 25 million viewers over the 23 million the "Housewives" pulled in. • Ex-"Charmed" and "90210" star, Shannen Doherty was in a car accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, CA on February 13th. Doherty walked away with minor injuries, but the driver she hit was taken to the hospital. Doherty was cited for the accident.(Source: Zap2it)

  • Danny Pino ("Cold Case") is a dad for the first time. Weighing in at 8 pounds, 3 ounces, Luca Daniel Pino was born on February 15th. Mom and baby are reportedly doing well. (Source: Zap2it)

  • Have Americans decided that Simon, Paula and Randy are more worthy of their precious viewing time than the Olympic athletes? "American Idol" is causing a major upset in the ratings war, continually trouncing those Olympians. "Idol" garnered 27 million viewers as opposed to the 16 million who tuned into the Olympics. I guess we'd rather hear Simon's insults rather than watch people skating around on the ice! (Source: The Associated Press)
