The 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Nominations
Thursday July 6, 2006
It's the Oscars of the television industry, the Emmys are here! Thanks to the new Emmy rules, many surprises, snubs and not-so-surprising nominations complete the best of the best in television. The typical and well deserved multiple nominations include The West Wing, 24 and The Sopranos. New to the Emmy race this year are Grey's Anatomy and House in the Outstanding Drama Series category and Kyra Sedgwick and Chandra Wilson in the Outstanding Lead Actress and Supporting Actress categories respectively. Snubbed this year is last year's winner, Lost and Outstanding Comedy nominee, Desperate Housewives. Sadly, despite the new Emmy rules, the WB continues their tradition of being snubbed from every major category. Perhaps the newly formed CW will have better luck next year. Did your favorites make the cut? Get the scoop on who was nominated for this year's Primetime Emmys.

Disgraceful! The new rules screwed LOST. What’s up with the “blue ribbon” panel of experts? The regular Academy nominated LOST 9 times. How can a show get nominated for best cast, best writing and vbest directing and not get a nomination for Best Drama. What a snub!
I am shocked myself. I really feel this past season of Lost was better than season 1. I can see why DH didn’t get a nomination, but I am truly saddened by the Lost snub.
The only good news is that The West Wing’s reign ends with this Emmy ceremony.
It will be interesting to see how many of the 8 categories in which LOST is nominated that it wins. It has to win cinematography. It’s the only series filmed on location!
I was also sad that Prison Break didn’t get a nod in any major area. Fantastic show!
Covering teen shows for 6 years, I pretty much got used to great shows getting the good ‘ole snub. There has been some incredible acting on shows like Roswell, Buffy, Angel, etc and in 6 years of my covering the TV/Movies for Teens site, only 1 episode of Buffy was nominated in the writing category.
This is such a shame, but hopefully Lost will triumph in those other categories.
I’d love to see 24 finally win in a major category. The show and Kiefer Sutherland get nominated every year and never win in the major categories. That’s a show with some of the best acting I’ve ever seen.
