Isaiahgate Presses On
Thursday June 21, 2007
Will this never end? When Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington was fired a couple of weeks ago, we sensed a storm was brewing and I think secretly we all thought this would be an excellent opportunity to see if Washington had indeed been rehabilitated. In a recent interview with the Houston Chronicle, Washington let loose and stated, "They fired the wrong guy," indicating that his co-star T.R. Knight is the one who should have been given his walking papers. The actor said the details of the infamous incident that took place back in October were greatly exaggerated and believes this was a ploy on Knight's behalf to negotiate a better contract. Washington is determined to clear his name and offered the following statement to the Chronicle:
"My livelihood, my honor and dignity and my name have been so challenged. I was not fired for making homophobic slurs. I did everything I said I would do. I offered to go to counseling, to do a public service announcement. I wanted everyone to know I was remorseful."It sounds to me as though this issue is far from over. Do you think it's sour grapes or is Washington finally letting the cat out of the bag now that he doesn't have anything to lose? Post your comments below and weigh in on the latest Isaiahgate news.

I wonder about Isaiah’s intentions. I always believe in hearing both sides, but I Isaiah has been very fake so many times that I now want to hear T.R. Knight’s and other cast members’ side of what happened.
I don’t get this whole thing–Isaiah did everything that he was supposed to do and yet–this very major character to the story line got fired. Like everyone else I would like to hear what the rest of the cast has to say without fear of reprisal from the network–my guess is that it will never happen. Some one had to be the fall guy and Isaiah was it. It just isn’t fair. Still, I do hope we hear from some other cast members.
A couple of cast members have spoken out, and their version does NOT match with Isaiah’s version…He needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and move on…he’s only making things worse for himself…and now trying to blame TR Knight for what Isaiah himself said!!?? What’s with that!?
Katherine Heigl has at least given her side of the story on several occassions and stated that she was worried about the after effects but she was going to stand up for her friend … and she’s moved on
Yes, Isaiah did what he was told; yes, he apologized; yes, he went to rehab for anger management; yes, he made a psa. Unfortunately for him, he should have been smart enough to get help BEFORE the incident. Hopefully, he’ll be given another chance by someone, somewhere as he did good work. I doubt it because now he’s being an idiot AGAIN by saying the T.R. Knight should have been fired. I don’t know that he’ll ever be able to speak in public without someone writing his lines for him.
Although the comment should never been made;Isiah has shown remorse. The show will not be the same without him. I think he should be rehired & everyone should move on.
Did the show’s producers ever commit to Isaiah’s future with the show if he made reparations for his REPEATED inappropriate actions? Don’t know, but I doubt that, since their livlihood (their show’s popularity) hinges on the public’s acceptance of the offender’s remorse. Sounds like a classic “it’s not my fault” immature response from the offender.
Has it come to this, that a t.v. show fires someone over saying something. If that were the case, we should all be fired…..We know he is playing a character, we know this is fiction. Shame on ABC for taking such drastic measures and shame on them for the way they did it. And T.R. Knight should get over it already….welcome to real life.
I guess its like the Imus issue! You say racial or any type of slurs you get slammed! Its sad though when some folk get such punishment and gee politians and such or reverends who say mean things get off with nothing! Too bad the situation is out of control!
I feel that Isaiah should not have been fired expecially after the ask forgiveness and did all thing the station require him to do to show that he regret the things he had said. I feel that TV Station already knew what they were going to fire Isaiah. They were not honest or professional in firing him.
I don’t think Isaiah should not have been fired. This was way blown out of proportion. I can understand his frustration but he’s a good actor and should move on at this point.
Totally loved his acting. Don’t care what he said….it is none of my business. Thank heavens, everytime I say something that I shouldn’t I don’t have to pay an enormous price!
he already asked for forgiveness. they should not fire him, his a great actor and played a big role in grey’s anatomy. he’s the reason why i watched this series because his great and so his character. grey’s anatomy would never be the same without dr. burke. why can they just move on and forgive each other.
I like Washington’s acting, but this is his own damn fault. If he kept his comments to himself in the beginning, he’d still have a job on “Grey’s Anatomy”.
