Emmy Scandal: And the Nominees Might Be....

By , About.com GuideJuly 3, 2007

Follow me on:

The Emmy nominations won't be announced until July 19, but the ten nominees (a.k.a. "Short List") in the drama and comedy series categories may have been revealed thanks to an online leak from someone associated with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. TheEnvelope.com was the first site to post the list of nominees, along with a list of several judges involved in this year's voting process. During the voting process, ten contenders are chosen and reviewed by a blue-ribbon panel and then whittled down to five (sometimes six) nominees. According to TheEnvelope.com, the drama and comedy series that made the "Short List" are:

Drama Series
Comedy Series
Will your favorite series get the final nod? Stay tuned for the offical Emmy nominations on July 19.

The true scandal concerning the Emmy Awards–like the tonys, Oscars and other U.S. government-permitted undefined ‘award’ extrvaganzas is hardly discussed. It is that: their purpose is to destroy and not to promote a scientifically-defined or “category-level” marketplace of jobs, arts and competititve opporunities for creators, performers, advertisers and buyers–dealers in what was supposed to be” fictional and artistic value for human selves.
What else could eventuate when “popularity”, “puerility”, “glandular emotional acceptance” or “cutting edge funkiness” is set against “perfectly-good-enough classical-accent-trained capability”?
What other purpose could there be to NOT separating classical accent from merely folk accent perfornmances? To NOT having age-group awards?
To NOT defining fiction as : a moral-ethical normative central characters seeking some categorically-normative end by contexted means?
Study if you will the list of “dramatic shows” nominated as “best” this year. Not one is true a dramatic nor an adventure-level program. When that evasion/pretension is the basis of TV media tsars’ thinking, what can one expect of “nominations”, “awards”, or anything else?
As you watch the Emmy Awards “show”, if you do, remember what I have called its fraud is costing us. Just as the Academy Awards were used to set in place a de facto monopoly over movie screen time, the Emmys and other Awards are now also being used to hide from our nation’s citizens the fact that they have next-to-no rights to perform, create, advertise honestly, buy or hire for true ability, human value, etc., in this nation.
And note also that it is the false image of “awards of excellence” handed to the undefined by the undefining that make the ongoing dictatorships over the U.S. arts industries by collectivistic tsars without presented bona fides, abilities nor proven nor demonstrable mental capacity possible.
A monopoly over screen time is not intellect, science, capacity nor anything else; it is simple a monopoly–held by infallibility-claiming coercive pragmatic-impractical power-mongers; it is an establishment of controls, permited by Congress, that prevents mentally capable creators from having life, liberty, rights and the pursuit of their own priority of happiness–in this case: making or purchasing realistic fictional tv show and features made for adult citizen selves–TV works that have highly-perfect value, not only a surface-level pretense at amoral “entertainment” delivered to addicts of postmodernist reality-hating swill waiting to feed their habit once more.
