Wednesday Television Premieres

Wednesday September 26, 2007
It's the night we've all been waiting for as the much-anticipated series premieres of Bionic Woman, Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money debut tonight! Returning tonight are Criminal Minds sans Mandy Patinkin and CSI: NY. Last season, these two dramas came out the leaders in the ratings race, but is ABC about to knock CBS off their throne? Six series premieres, four are new and our Tivo's are about to go into overtime, here is Wednesday's premiere schedule:

9pm Private Practice on ABC
9pm Criminal Minds on CBS
9pm Bionic Woman on NBC
10pm Dirty Sexy Money on ABC
10pm CSI: NY on CBS
10pm Life on NBC

Private Practice: Sick of dealing with her ex-husband and ex-lover, Addison Montgomery leaves Seattle Grace behind and heads to beautiful Los Angeles and joins a private practice with her old med school friends. Will Addison finally find true love and figure out a way to have a baby before it's too late?

Chance of Success: Good. The special 2-hour episode last May introducing this series didn't go over well with fans, but I think once we separate Grey's Anatomy from Private Practice, this series has a good chance at winning over viewers.

Bionic Woman: Jaime Sommers is back and as technologically enhanced as ever in this remake from the 70s. In this version, Jaime Sommers works as a bartender who gets into a near-fatal car accident. The only way to save her life is an amazing surgery using top-secret technology - but it will cost her more than she may be willing to give in the long run. Will she be able to use her powers for good while paying back the enormous debt?

Chance of Success: 50/50. This is an excellent remake of the popular 70s drama, but it faces extraordinarily stiff competition in this time slot. I'd love to see NBC give this series a shot in another timeslot if it tanks in the ratings before making a final decision.

Dirty Sexy Money: Years ago we had Dynasty and this fall, a new family charges in and promises to rival even good ole Alexis Carrington. The Darling family has it all -- money, power and privilege, and Nick George is determined to never succumb to that lifestyle. When Nick's father, the Darling's trusted attorney passes away, it's up to Nick to keep the family empire running and the naughty Darlings in line....and find out what really happened to his father.

Chance of Success: Excellent. This series has had an incredible amount of publicity and I think people will tune in just to see what the big deal is all about. It'll only take one look before you're hooked, so watch with caution!

Life: After spending years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, Detective Charlie Crews manages to return to the police force and gets a second chance at pursuing the life that was yanked away from him years ago.

Chance of Success: Not good. This series does not peak my interest at all and has had virtually no buzz at all. However, it is a crime drama with a talented cast and many viewers are still hooked on this genre.
