FX Short On Dirt and Riches
Thursday February 7, 2008
The writers' strike may be close to a resolution, but the reported $1.9 billion (Source: Variety) financial fallout has had a devastating effect on everyone in the industry. Sadly, it has proven lethal for smaller networks such as FX. Citing financial reasons as the culprit, FX Networks has decided that despite the imminent ending of the writers strike, the seven completed episodes of Dirt and The Riches is all we'll see this season.
Dirt is set to premiere on March 2, but FX has yet to announce the start date for The Riches. Both series ceased production back in December when they ran out of scripts.
Does this mean there is little hope of a third season renewal for both series? The Hollywood Reporter stated that the decision to shorten the season of both shows "does not affect the two series' chances for a third-season renewal." Both shows rake in over 5 million viewers each week, which isn't too shabby for FX.
