All Bets Are Off for NBC's Las Vegas

Tuesday February 26, 2008
There'll be "a little less conversation" on NBC this fall without Las Vegas closing out the week. Michael Ausiello at TV Guide and E! Online's Kristen are both reporting that the cast and crew of Las Vegas have been notified that after five seasons, the series has played its last hand.

While many fans have been greatly disappointed with the series since James Caan left the show, some felt that casting Tom Selleck breathed new life into the series. Whatever the case may be, the 7 million viewers who tuned in each week clearly weren’t enough to please TPTB over at NBC.

Will Danny and Delinda live happily ever after? Will Sam ever find true love? NBC hasn't indicated whether or not they'll wrap up the loose ends, so this may be one of those times when viewers will have to use their imagination. However, I don't imagine Las Vegas fans will forgive NBC anytime soon if those loose ends are forever left dangling. (Photo: Copyright © NBC Universal, Inc. All rights reserved. This is exactly why I quit watching NBC when they cancelled Third Watch. I just starting watching Las Vegas and really enjoy it. I’m sorry I missed out on all the previous years. So, lets see cancel Las Vegas and put some other stupid reality show on NBC and call it night. Way to go NBC. You just lost a viewer for good this time.

I totally agree with everyone’s comment here, first Third Watch and now this, pitifull. You always seem to take quality shows off and leave the mindless junk on.

I agree-I am really pissed about this. I have watched the show since the beginning.

Also if anyone has missed the earlier shows you can find them on TNT Monday thru Friday at noon.

(7) Alyssa says:

WHY? How could you take Las Vegas off the air! I have been watching the show since the beginning and purchased all of the seasons DVD’s. No more NBC for me…this is the last straw! Before this it was Crossing Jordan!

(8) NoMoreNBC says:

You know, I never watch NBC… Then I discovered Las Vegas. I would wait all week for my Friday night episode of Las Vegas. It was my little break from the week. My husband & I would curl up in bed and watch to see what would happen. Guess now there is no reason at all to watch NBC… May as well remove it from our channel selections.

(9) amysingsstl says:

WOW!!! First Third Watch, then Crossing Jordan, now Las Vegas! I guess NBC thinks we enjoy getting hooked on shows only to be left holding the bag and wondering. It still frosts me that we never got the loose ends tied up from Crossing Jordan last year, now this… I guess after Jay Leno leaves the network next year, I’ll have no reason to watch NBC!!!! Great job NBC… you all are slipping fast… I never thought I’d say that ABC was a better network than you, but you’ve proven that true!

Never I have I written anything of this nature. But I am amazed at the sheer lack or respect that NBC has for it’s viewers. Is there any news on whether there could be a changing of the “minds”. This is the only program our household would sit and watch on a weekly basis. Astounding. Never will I invest my time in a show on NBC again.

(11) Brad Shepherd says:

I have been watching Vegas since the series began. I want to know who they really get their information from to think the viewing audience is so small? TIvo? What if most don’t have this for the Nielson ratings? Your network sucks. Leaving so many loose ends and stopping the series. What dumb ass show are you going to replace this with now? I anticipated every episode each week. Damn you! I will be sure NOT to get interested in any other series with your network!!!

las vegas was a great show…too bad it was on the worst of net works…NBC..good-bye nbc

(13) Kasey Johnson says:

Once again the network is deciding what we should and should not watch. There are many age groups watching TV and not everyone enjoys reality mania. Sometimes shows like Vegas gives a person some relief from everyday issues. It is true the show was better with James Cann but never had the time to develop the new direction. Reconsider this blunder before you loose even more viwers! KJ

(14) NBCsucksass says:

NBC sucks ass. i cant believe that they would do this to such a great show. its not fair that they would leave a cliff hanger for the end of the whole show. and now they r gonna put on a crappy show on and make us forget that they canceled Las Vegas and Crossing Jordan. no, we are not gonna forget what they did, and we are not gonna watch NBC any more.

(15) Cosmiccomic says:

NBC YOU SUCK!!!!! STOP TAKING OFF ALL THE GOOD SHOWS!!!!!!!!I am sooooo sick and tired of your shows having “cliff hanger” season finally’s and then the show is canceled. NBC must know before the season’s end what shows are staying and what shows are being canceled, so if a show is ending end it properly don’t leave us all hanging!!!

August 29, 2008 at 8:54 am
(16) Nini says:

What is NBC thinking or maybe just maybe they don’t think. Las Vegas was one of the few network shows I bothered to even watch since the ones I’ve liked always end up getting cancelled. So what now, do we get another mindless reality show geared towards the stupid? Wake up NBC you will loose viewers over this one!!!! With any luck maybe one of the cable networks will pick up Las Vegas.

(17) Scott says:

Why is it that the networks can’t actually end a series anymore? You would think with them making millions on DVD sets they would figure out that people actually would like an ending. How hard is it to make one last episode where everyone takes jobs at another place and there you go, show ended. If they knew at the end of last season they were going to kill it off then why not make that one last episode, put it on the DVD box set if you are really greedy, give people a reason to buy them. Anything that looks decent that comes out from now on I am just going to DVR it and if they kill it without an ending I will just delete the recordings and not waste my time. Anyone remember who the big advertisers were during Vegas? Those are the people that should be getting letters telling them that we are upset that they aren’t supporting our show anymore so we in turn are not going to support them anymore. I bet that would get the attention of the networks quicker than individuals writing letters or signing petitions.

NBC sucks !!!!! Bring back Las Vegas, or lose another viewer..LEAVE MEDIUM ALONE!!!! you are down to the last hour I will give you of my time.

The only NBC show- of the way too many that I watch- is cancelled???? I LOVE Las Vegas. I can’t believe NBC would cancel the one good show they had. How disappointing! No more Josh??? Back to ABC, FOX, and CBS for me!

(21) Robert says:

I agree we need to start complaining to the sponsers of NBC. tell them that we will not buy their stuff, because they support a crappy network that treats the public this way.

(23) Paul says:

just wanted to get it off my chest that I’m still mad about ‘Las Vegas’ being cancelled. Morons! The bootie campaign was nice and all that but I say don’t watch NBC

December 26, 2008 at 3:25 pm
(24) Meli says:

As much as I hate NBC for cancelling such a great show as Las Vegas, I HAVE to tune in to watch Heroes. NBC made such a big mistake for canning LV and the worst part is that they left us with all the loose ends. Damn you NBC, you suck!

January 6, 2009 at 12:44 pm
(25) Jan says:

Canceling “Vegas” just strengthens my convictions to not watch NBC. What is wrong with those folks that a great show like “Vegas” is cut and other shows that I would not even turn the tv on to watch are kept. Someone is just plain stupid.

February 18, 2009 at 2:53 pm
(26) Victoria says:

I loved Las Vegas. It was the best show on TV. Friday nights were date nights with my husband and Las Vegas. I really miss it. And for what…Knight Rider? The Biggest Loser again? Deal or No Deal? Las Vegas was all entertainment with flashy clothes, glitz, glamour and a GREAT cast. NBC let go of a winner.
