WGA Officially Approves Contract
Tuesday February 26, 2008
Although the writers' voted to put an end to the strike two weeks ago, there was one last bridge to cross before the strike could officially be declared over and that was membership approval of the new contract. 4,060 WGA members voted and an overwhelming 93.6% approved the contract with the AMPTP. The writers' strike is now officially over and all is well in the entertainment world -- for now....
There is another storm brewing in Hollywood and if negotiations don't get underway soon, we could be facing yet another industry-crippling strike! The Screen Actors Guild contract with the AMPTP is up for renewal this June and they have made it very clear that they will fight tooth and nail to get what they want from the studios.
Will the SAG and AMPTP be able to work things out and save everyone from dealing with another very unpleasant situation? Stay tuned for another episode of "As the AMPTP Turns."
