Has Friday Night Lights Been Saved?

Was it the massive delivery of footballs to NBC executives that prompted them to rethink the cancellation of the popular series? Fans of NBC's Friday Night Lights may have cause to celebrate -- it appears that NBC is very close to renewing the series.
Nikki Finke over at Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that NBC and DirecTV are closing in on a deal that would allow the series to return for a third season.
NBC is determined to make this series financially successful and therefore have pursued innovative ways to make this happen. The details of this new deal are under wraps, but what we do know is that this arrangement would allow the series to air on multiple platforms. One thing is clear, NBC wants Friday Night Lights to remain on the schedule.
