Fans Rally to Save October Road

As May quickly approaches, the networks are busy making decisions on the many thrilling pilots to pick-up for the fall, where to place everything on the schedule and which shows just aren't pulling their weight in the never-ending ratings war.
October Road and Men in Trees, two fan favorite dramas in their sophomore seasons, are in extreme danger of being canceled on ABC and those dedicated fans aren't about to go quietly into the night.
Back in February, Men in Trees fans launched an eco-friendly campaign and now the October Road fans have begun another incredible campaign in hopes of saving their beloved show.
The Campaign: Pay October Road Forward
These passionate and ingenious campaigners are not only attempting to get ABC to renew October Road for a third season, but realizing they may face this same problem next year, are looking to nip that problem in the bud by luring new viewers into the fold.
Confidant that once new viewers watch the show, they'll be hooked, Pay October Road Forward campaigners are buying season one of October Road on DVD and donating it to their local libraries. They are also asking fans to donate books no longer in use to their libraries.
In addition, many generous fans are creating care packages containing the season one DVD to send to our troops overseas. The effort fans put forth to save their favorite show never ceases to amaze me. When a series touches the hearts of fans so deeply, it really pays tribute to everybody involved in creating a show.
October Road and Men in Trees fans have really gone above and beyond the typical fan campaign by insuring that the lives of thousands of people are a little brighter. TV just doesn't get better than that!

Thanks for giving us some much need PR, October Road is definitely a show that has touched the fans’ hearts. So many have said no other show has motivated them to fight to keep it on the air and it is so true. It is a show you will love and it has amazingly talented actors. ABC please save October Road!!

ABC has two great shows on their hands with October Road and Men In Trees.
After showing a two hour SEASON finale with lots of new doors opening I would be so ticked if ABC just cancel October Road. That would be like a real slap in the face towards the fans. At some point the networks do need to appreciate their fans.

Thanks for the article. I love the cast and characters in October Road. I love the setting of the show. The town and characters are portrayed in such an inviting way. It makes you feel like you are a part of the “Ridge”. I would be so sad to see this show cancelled because the storyline has so far to go.

I love Men in Trees. It is the BEST show on TV right now. Despite have numerous time-slots and day changes MIT still has a loyal fan-base. I think that says a lot about the show. The tree planting campaign that MIT fans are doing will plant food trees to help people in a sustainable way. It is an amazing project. As a side note it would be great if ABC would release season 1 of MIT on DVD for all of us to enjoy!!

This wonderful show just has to come back for a third season, it is such a welcome breath of fresh air! OR has completely captured my heart since the very first episode and I’ve discovered countless others who feel exactly the same way. Once you give OR a chance it just hooks you for life. I’m very grateful to ABC for inspiring us come up with the PAY OCTOBER ROAD FORWARD campaign. Last week I donated the OR dvd, along with a pledge to also send him/her season two just as soon as it is released, to a sailor in Kuwait. Doing this gave me such a GOOD feeling inside that I am ordering another dvd from amazon to send to a different military member, and this time I will also include a supply of non-perishable snacks for them to share with their fellow comrades. Our military sacrifices so much for us for which they receive so little recognition, so I am very proud to be showing them my gratitude in this small way. I’m also downright proud to call myself a Roadie, too. Thanks again, Rachel, and Long Live the Road!

All those memories of times spent together…How cool would that be??? I think that’s why we all love this show so much…It leaves you feeling good whenever you watch it…You can lose yourself in it and forget the worries of the day!!! I fell in love with October Road the 1st season and I purchased the DVD after the 2nd season and even got my sports nut of a husband loving the show. We will buy the second season DVD and if ABC doesn’t pick it up I will be DONE watching their network. They have so many dumb and dumber reality shows on this summer that I have become a TLC and Animal Planet fan.
I love this show, they never gave it a chance!
abc CAN’T cancel October Road!!!
It is one of the best shows on TV.
It ranks right up there with Grey’s and Private Practice. Also Men in Trees, whats up with that???? They take off all of the good shows.
ABC did a pitiful job of promoting this series and didn’t even make an attempt to snag more viewers by juggling the time slot. I am really going to miss this show and refuse to watch anything else ABC has to offer.

I say, “shame on ABC” for taking October Road off of the schedule. There are so few choices of decent programming on these days and now they go and take away one more. I wouldn’t have a problem with it if only October Road wasn’t such a good drama. ABC never gave this show the full chance it deserved so again, I say “shame on you, ABC”. It is sad that American television is getting known for it’s glut of junk programming and ABC is doing nothing to correct that.

Thank you everyone for your fight to save October Road!! The setting and feel of this show gives us 25 to 30 somethings a little break from reality. I am from a very small town and this show reminds me of the way we are around here! Keep up the good work, hopefully we will see a season 3 soon!

My sister and I were just talking about fall shows and were wondering if October Road was returning. We are both very pissed off that it is not returning. Everytime we love a show it gets cancels….Why should we even try to watch shows and fall in love with them, because they seem to cancel alot of good shows once you get hooked in..This was a great show, loved all the characters. October road is an amazing show with great characters and a mesmerizing plot. I am from a small town and this show captures the essence of small town living. I love this show; I can’t even believe ABC is canceling it. Bring it Back! There is so much unresolved plot you can’t leave us hanging.

Everyone I talk to LOVES October Road. I even have a friend in Australia who bought the DVD of season one on a whim and fell in love with it. The very least the network could do is a allow a 2-hour movie to wrap up the story lines and give the fans closure. Or maybe Lifetime or another cable channel could pick it up. I’m sure it is too late now as the actors and staff have probably moved on to other projects, but the fans were left unfulfilled. It’s just sad, sad, sad…
i also appreciate all the pr for october road. i only just discovered this show on hulu and have watched every episode sometimes 3 in a row. im totally hooked and was looking to see if there was another season available on dvd only to discover the show was not renewed.i cant believe how terribly attached i am to all the characters i have become and how incredibly dissapointed i was to learn there would be no more. if anyone at abc reads these, i hope they take them to heart and figure out a way to continue this show . it seems to me by what ive read so far that there is definately a following!!!!!!!!!!! thanx again , matt
I really loved OR. I check the message boards at least once a month to see if they will renew the show. I hope that ABC will realize their mistake, no matter how late it is, and give the show back to all the Roadies. This was a great show that got me hooked from the beginning. Just admit your mistake and bring it back.
Ok all I have to say is I love October Road and I really want this show to go on for a third season heck I could go for 10 seasons. I love everything about the show. and they left too many cliff hangers to not have a third season. Please Please i beg don’t cancel October Road.
