Is Laurence Fishburne Heading to CSI?

Wednesday August 6, 2008
He once led Keanu Reeves down the very large rabbit hole that exposed the Matrix, but these days Laurence Fishburne is living deep inside the Matrix and may soon be fighting crime in Las Vegas. When William Petersen departs CSI: Crime Scene Investigation later this season, a large void will need to be filled and it looks like Fishburne may be the man for the job.

CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler revealed at the Television Critics Association press tour that the character stepping in to replace Grissom will be a doctor and/or scientist who is "an outsider coming into the CSI unit." He also happens to share the same genetic profile that many serial killers possess. Will he use this knowledge to help track down murderers or could he one day act on those genetic traits?

Other actors being considered for this role were John Malkovich and Kurt Russell, but if all goes well, Fishburne will step into this juicy role once the lights go out in Grissom's office. This series may be entering its ninth season, but it certainly doesn't show any signs of slowing down. Stay tuned for another exciting season of CSI beginning October 9.

Why is William Petersen leaving? He was so good at it. Laurence Fishburn will be fantastic!! It will certainly give CSI-Miami a serious run for its money with Laurence at the helm!!

i can’t believe Peterson is leaving!I will miss him ; no one can take his place, not even Fishburne! If he must leave,I would much more be at ease with Kurt Russell.
