Fox is Hot For Fringe
Thursday October 2, 2008
With J.J. Abrams at the helm and its fantastic roster of stars such as Joshua Jackson and Anna Torv, did we have any doubt that Fox's Fringe would become a big hit with viewers? To be honest, with the strange plummet in the ratings across the board and former heavy hitters such as Heroes and Grey's Anatomy down millions of viewers from last season, I had my doubts that anything new would survive.
Since its debut last month, Fringe has captured between 9 and 10 million viewers each week. Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company, made the announcement that Fringe would stick around for the remainder of the season....
"We're having a blast working on this show with this great team of producers and amazing cast," said Reilly. "The series has really taken off creatively, and it's exciting to see that the audience is responding. We believe this is the first full season of many years to come."Fringe is the second new drama series to earn a full season order, the CW's 90210 being the first to grab that honor this fall. Will both series hold on to their audiences through the remainder of the season? You never know -- Jericho was a big ratings hit when it aired during the fall months, but when it returned 10 weeks later, the ratings tanked. It took 20 tons of nuts to bring that series back for a shortened second season and it still didn't make the cut. If you love your shows, you need to keep watching!
