Gil Grissom Begins His Long Goodbye
Thursday October 9, 2008
Once a series has been on the air for more than six or seven seasons, it usually begins to show its age. However, for some reason many crime dramas tend to fare better than the others. Is it because crime is always a major factor in our world, or are we just intrigued by the whole concept? Perhaps we just love to see the bad guys brought to justice in the end.
Viewers were shocked last May when CSI killed off one of their main characters in such dramatic fashion. Although many knew that series regular Gary Dourdan was leaving the series, I think the general consensus was that he would exit the series with the door slightly open for a possible return, much like his fellow co-star Jorja Fox did last year.
A third blow came over the summer when William Petersen decided he would also exit the series this year.
The character of Gil Grissom will make a slow exit this season (his last episode is #10), but there is a pot of gold at the end of this painful rainbow -- film star Laurence Fishburne is heading to CSI around the time that Grissom says goodbye. Will the exit of these characters breathe new life into the series, or could this be the beginning of the end for this popular show? Only time and the Nielsen ratings will tell....

This is wrong he shouldnt leave the show him and the rest of the cast is what makes that show i was sad when sara left now warrick died and Gil is leaving what is coming next i know the show is coming to and end but they should keep them in to the end that is my opinon that is all
I am sad if Gil Grissom needs to leave the show. I don’t really like a big change of the charaters. They (original charaters) bring us the show, should also take a bow when ending comes.
