Kings Dethroned from NBC

Wednesday April 22, 2009
The timeless story of David and Goliath will have to be told another time and in another way -- NBC has removed Kings from the schedule effective immediately.

Not many new series have survived the ratings war this season, and NBC's Kings is the latest to fall victim to the increasing pile of castoffs from this television season. Typically, May is the time of year when the networks unload under performing shows in order to make room for a new class to take up residence in the fall. However, lately it seems as though any day is game for a network to cancel a series. It has been a rough road for fans this season.

For those who faithfully followed Kings, NBC plans to air the remaining 7 episodes beginning Saturday June 13 at 8pm ET. NBC Photo: Andrew Eccles Copyright © 2009 NBC Universal, Inc. All rights reserved.

(1) Ted says:

NBC needs to stick with the shows it puts on the air and try to get some viewers. Instead they run 2 hour episodes of The Apprentice, which seemed long when they were hour episodes.

(2) billy says:

I OFFICIALLY QUIT NBC!

April 23, 2009 at 5:12 pm
(3) Jedidiah Palosaari says:

NBC deserves to fail as a network. Canceling one of the best new series on TV, well-written, directed, and acted, is criminal. The only other good new show out there was ABC’s Lost on Mars, which is also gone, after an incredibly lame final episode. I guess I’ll watch only CBS from now on.

April 24, 2009 at 1:50 pm
(4) Chester Lapointe says:

I love Kings and think that NBC made a HUGE error on this one. I guess its just FOX for me now.

April 25, 2009 at 9:18 pm
(5) Trista Sue says:

UNBELIEVABLE! Finally a show I love & schedule myself around. POOF its gone! Its a crying shame. Just when I thought there was hope in this dim world. Shame on NBC.

April 26, 2009 at 2:40 am
(6) Steve says:

This show deserves more than what NBC has given it. This show will become a cult show on cable -You watch

April 26, 2009 at 6:43 pm
(7) R says:

HUGE MISTAKE. KINGS is a great show.

April 26, 2009 at 7:02 pm
(8) John says:

NBC should just pack it in. If they can’t afford to invest the time in a show with this much going for it, they should just broadcast test patterns.

April 27, 2009 at 1:46 am
(9) Syd says:

What a shame, I was really enjoying this show.. it really wasn’t given a fair shot.. and my have been a bit too difficult for all those whose brains have been melted by silly simple minded shows…

April 27, 2009 at 2:56 am
(10) Ann says:

Was the dialogue too intellectual for the average American viewer? Or is it because it’s a smart show, but is not funny at the same time? Kings is a well-directed, well written television show and deserves to be given a second chance. Maybe another network will be inclined to pick it up?

April 27, 2009 at 9:51 am
(11) T. Lindberg says:

Apparently all TV execs think we need is more and more “reality” shows which are nothing but a waste of time. Where are all the writers giving us brilliant stories with wonderful actors portraying characters on screen? Reality TV is a waste of time. Give us some decent television and maybe the netwoks will make some decent money!

April 27, 2009 at 11:48 am
(12) ken m says:

Shame on you NBC for not having the moral fortitude to stick with this series. Well acted, well written; that was probably the mistake… I guess we’ll have to wait for June for those of us who appreciate a quality series, to see the remaining episodes.

April 28, 2009 at 8:29 pm
(13) Kingsfan says:

Kings was a great show…how is a show suppose to get good ratings when the tv guide says it will be on Sunday, then supposedly it goes to Saturday and is not on at all!! Ian McShane is a great actor. He was fantastic in Deadwood. Anyway, I’m looking forward to viewing the 7 final episodes, IF they actually appear as it states they will on the NBC website.

April 29, 2009 at 12:39 am
(14) YeahNo says:

Kings started out as a really great show, however suddenly this mighty David turned wimpy and coward like…then it just got stupid.

April 29, 2009 at 3:09 am
(15) King James says:

Good riddance. The show was hyped way beyond reasonable expectation.

May 4, 2009 at 4:28 pm
(16) kuya boy says:

Do you still believe people watch the apprentice and the rest of your reality shows?
I don’t and probably a lot more.

May 24, 2009 at 6:58 pm
(17) Technosquid says:

Reminds me of what happened to Studio 60 – another expensive to produce low rated drama on NBC.

May 30, 2009 at 2:10 pm
(18) Tara says:

I am so sad for this. It’s a smart show that I lost track of due to all of the moving around. I look forward to the last 7 episodes. Yet another loss for NBC and network television in general.

May 31, 2009 at 8:02 pm
(19) Eric M says:

HUGE MISTAKE!!! Come on NBC, you put on some stupid “get me out of here” celebrity show and cancel some truly quality television- horribly disappointed in this terrible decision. It’s not like you don’t have some excellent times to put a GOOD show on and get rid of some of the mindless garbage!

June 1, 2009 at 3:07 am
(20) Mistermodern says:

It’s official, NBC just announced their 2009-2010 prime time line-up and Kings is no where to be found. For Saturday nights the tentative schedule is:

SATURDAY

8-9 p.m. – “Dateline NBC”

9-10 p.m. – “TRAUMA” (encore broadcast)

10-11 p.m. – “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (encore broadcast)

For Sunday nights the tentative schedule is:

SUNDAY

7- 8:20 p.m. “Football Night in America”

8:20-11 p.m. “NBC Sunday Night Football”

NBC MID-SEASON 2010 SCHEDULE

(2010 WINTER OLYMPICS preempt regularly scheduled programming from February 12-28, 2010)

Damn it all to hell, well guys I guess we are going to have to make a lot of noise if we want to ever see Kings get a second season. It hurts to see all of these B.S. reality shows get green lit and renewed when there are quality well done shows like Kings. Let’s all pray we see some butterflies on the horizon!

June 1, 2009 at 2:02 pm
(21) long live the king! says:

It’s a real shame to see such a great show fall to the wayside while NBC decides to develop horrible reality shows. At the end of the day they are cheaper to make but there is ZERO substance to them. I hope that Kings is somehow picked up elsewhere or put on a sister station like sci-fi channel.

NBC = EPIC FAIL.

June 3, 2009 at 12:46 am
(22) Nicole says:

NBC should really bring back “Kings”.

Great show, great actors and characters.

Five episodes to decide if a show is popular or not is simply ridiculous!

Perhaps CBS can pick it up? Same as they did for “Medium” that NBC did not renew either at the last minute?

Hail to the Kings!

(24) mike says:

UGGGHH!!!
Finally a new show that I absolutely LOVE!
And they cancel it? I am so sick of dumbed down shows!

June 15, 2009 at 8:49 pm
(25) Seuss says:

I agree that it is a shame that this show didn’t get picked up.

I just had a huge treat when I found the most recent episode on my DVR. I wasn’t expecting any new content at this point in the year, especially from this show.

I suppose all we can do now is enjoy the remaining 6 episodes and hope that perhaps some other network will pick this show up or maybe NBC will push it to USA or something.

June 19, 2009 at 12:37 pm
(26) Erin says:

It is a shame that this show had to be cancelled!!!! I hate to see good quality shos like this fall leaving us with a bunch of reality nonsense!! Ian McShane is AWESOME!!! How do you only have 5 or 6 episodes and decide to cancel? I think NBC should re-think this!

June 22, 2009 at 1:06 pm
(27) Joe says:

NBC What the hell are you thinking really….. really your gonna cancel your only show that showed some hope. I mean Heroes was one of my fav shows but your pretty much killing it now. And Kings is the only thing keeping me watching you guys. Well goodbye hope you guys come to your senses.

June 23, 2009 at 12:47 am
(28) King Lear says:

This was one of the best shows on the air since Band of Brothers. Hopefully another station picks this up, one with intgrity and a budget. I hope your listening cable/HBO, because this would be a good choice to pick up (just don’t make it too racy, HBO, i do like Trueblood, but Kings should be a little more wholesome).

June 23, 2009 at 1:52 pm
(29) mike says:

This show is great. I cant believe it is cancelled. Stick with a show and give it better air time. This is one of the best series nbc has ever created. sad…

June 24, 2009 at 3:58 pm
(30) el nora says:

Why can’t NBC run Kings during the desolate summer mos? They didn’t give it a chance just when word of mouth was starting to generate interest.

June 27, 2009 at 10:45 pm
(31) Tina says:

Why bother getting interested in another NBC show only to have it yanked after a few episodes? I’m done.

June 28, 2009 at 12:38 am
(32) Prime Orcacle says:

Kings is too complex of a series to air. Law and Order is being replaced by “America’s Got Talent” I set my dvr to record Law and Order and get a show I don’t care about. Kings is a series that you can not start from episode five. There are many good shows that just don’t make it and many terrible shows get worse. I’m tired of reality television, but since it is so cheep to produce and “American Idol” and Survivor set the stage, we’ve been stuck with them…Does anyone know that Let’s Make a Deal was being remade and NBC didn’t tell anyone about it? What was worse was that the network didn’t even air commercials about it. Also, they aired it on the same day as “American Idol”. Not a good idea, but I don’t get paid big bucks so I don’t have a real opinion. I just find it sad that the people in charge feel that the only way to make money is to placate the lowest common denomination of our society.

June 28, 2009 at 4:36 am
(33) Upset says:

Sad to hear this wonderful tv series has been canceled. Uncancel it! There are little if any tv shows I like. This one is one of the rare ones. I haven’t watched too much NBC in the past, and if this doesn’t become uncancelled, I wont in the future. Silas, Al Swearinger is the man!

June 28, 2009 at 2:47 pm
(34) Gene says:

Just watched “Pilgrimage” one word…masterpiece. This show needs to be revived and continued. I cannot believe they’ve done this.

June 29, 2009 at 7:42 pm
(35) chester4cheetoes says:

Just finished watching the recent episode of Kings, and I was very impressed and also puzzled as to why NBC would cancel it. I hope some other network will pick it up, if NBC doesnt.

June 30, 2009 at 11:57 pm
(36) Michael Francis says:

Once again another show that I have become interested in has been cancelled. Why is it the country as a whole seems to ignore good television when it’s presented? Looks like I should just stick to football and forget whatever promising show comes up. Jerico, Surface, Invasion, and now Kings.

July 5, 2009 at 5:59 am
(37) EJ says:

What can we do to get Kings back on?!?! It is a great show, but they can’t expect it to have a chance when they only air a few episodes and move it to Saturdays. Who do we need to write or call to get NBC to reinvest in this excellent show?

July 5, 2009 at 9:01 pm
(38) Colleen Devison says:

I will not be watching NBC in the future. It wants our support and then doesn’t stick with anything long enough to get a following. It’s unfair to it’s actors and audience. If they are finding it hard to get sponsor’s,, that’s the reason. They can’t hold and audience that they show such disrespect for! They pulled the same thing with “My own worst enemy” They need to fire the powers that be and get someone vision at the button. And Conan O’Brien…..Please, at least Leno had some class. NBC is going downhill fast.

July 5, 2009 at 9:35 pm
(39) Chris Martin says:

What in the world is NBC thinking? Kings had the potential to become absolutely classic. Now it’s all crammed into 12 episodes, and the network has lost support of many many viewers.

July 7, 2009 at 1:54 pm
(40) JJ3 says:

Really? Pull the rug out from a great show. Kings had everything for everyone. Well it will be all Fox all the time for me!

July 7, 2009 at 8:13 pm
(41) alyssa says:

we could try signing this petition to stop it?!

July 9, 2009 at 8:23 am
(42) Marston says:

This was a great show and a real shame that they cancelled it. I watched all the episodes in a week and…Wow. NBC…this should be illegal. Canceling Kings makes an embarrassment of your network.

July 9, 2009 at 9:28 pm
(43) AJ says:

Kings deserves a full season. The story is just about to blossom. What shortsightedness from the NBC bean counters. The show will not appeal to everyone I’m sure but it does have an audience. Some marketing and a fall re-introduction might help. I hope another network will give it a chance and let NBC and it’s fellow dinosaurs continue their slow extinction.

July 11, 2009 at 7:38 pm
(44) adelh says:

I am very sad that this show is going off the air! wonderful cast, wonderful story! Hopefully the show can move to cable where all the good shows GET A CHANCE!!!!

July 12, 2009 at 1:39 am
(45) Jade says:

I just saw the 2nd to last episode. How can NBC not market it, put it on a Sunday night? Then justify cancelling it when no one tunes into watch in that horrible timeslot? No one tuning in Sunday night is going to be religious or smart enough to watch that show, which is why it performs half as well as anything else on that timeslot.

This is ridiculous on so many levels… I really liked this show, and I like it even more now. I am very upset that NBC can’t seem to make things work even when they have excellent material. Perhaps it is time some of these marketing people put themselves into retirement?

July 12, 2009 at 3:31 am
(46) Rick Odyessy says:

I support this petition and agree with all the comments that this is a fantastic show. So what if 30 million people don’t watch the show. Not everyone has the same taste and isn’t that the very foundation of American culture? We are not mindless drones but a people with diverse taste. Think of this as a fantastic advertising opportunity to target this specific demographic. Leave the show on Friday or Saturday. This show is truly one of the best shows on TV in a long time. A refreshing departure from law enforcement or medical related shows that are considered by many as “edutainment”. There is something to be said about inspiring imagination and that is what this show does. At the very least turn this into a mini series and finish the story. We all know David is to be king, so take us there and end it. Its the least you can do for your fans. If you expect us to watch all the new shows you throw at us then you have a responsibility to making sure they you reward your fans with an ending. With badly made shows like Knight Rider and Bionic Woman being the exception. 1-4 million viewers is not bad, not every show takes off right away. You look at TV history and you will find the most successful shows took some time to take off. It takes at least 2-20 episode seasons. Give the show a chance and advertise it. People do DVR the show and perhaps you get some of that data but not all.

July 13, 2009 at 3:24 am
(47) McKenn says:

It was bad enough Heroes started to become a waste of time after season 1 and by putting money on shallow shows such as Merlin that provide zero sophistication in legendary story-telling I don’t see why I should put any faith in their shows once Kings is gone.

I absolutely love Kings and NBC will be making yet another mistake in having viewers respect them and their future broadcastings.

July 13, 2009 at 12:45 pm
(48) Bill says:

Too bad… Great show that did not get the respect it deserved. This show would have been a ratings wonder on HBO. I guess I’ll just have to watch the rest with wonder, what could have been.

July 13, 2009 at 7:24 pm
(49) T B says:

Wow! I can not believe they canceled this show. This is one of the best shows I have seen in a really long time. I have been on the edge of my seat. The show where David was on trial… absolutely AMAZING… Show content was awesome maybe they should address how they are marketing… certainly had nothing to do with the acting. I would have to say NBC stinks on their decision on this one.. VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!

July 14, 2009 at 3:28 pm
(50) Ryan says:

To Heck with NBC, IM tired of Stations pulling good shows, only to have Crap reality replace it. Kings was New, Fresh, Original, and was taking off, damn NBC give it some time to get off the ground and get a fan base. Instead of putting them in a crappy time slot, how about putting them in something that will draw viewers. Hope ABC/CBS/FOX someone else picks this up. I feel bad for IAN MCSHANE too, hes a damn good actor and they are ruining this guys career by putting him in a second series that gets canceled. SCREW NBC< and HBO.

July 15, 2009 at 3:23 pm
(51) lookelook33 says:

This is the one show that I got my wife to watch that was not reality tv. I have no interest in religion but I love this show. What if NBC pulled the plug on Sienfeld after 4 episodes. I guess we can only hope that DVD sales of the show will spur a second life like Family Guy. Maybe HBO can pick it up.

July 15, 2009 at 11:19 pm
(52) H says:

It has been a long time since my husband and I have gotten truly excited about a TV show, so you can imagine our disappointment. We started watching the Kings episodes on Hulu and have been completely drawn in by the story, the brilliant acting, the sets… We wish the show were given a true chance to succeed.

July 18, 2009 at 10:53 pm
(53) CErickson says:

Kings is hands down the best show I have ever gotten into, including LOST and Heroes. I don’t think Kings was given a chance and then was chopped of at the knees so that no viewership could build. I am going to every site I can and voicing support.

July 19, 2009 at 1:59 pm
(54) Patricia Williams says:

All hope is not lost! Think about shows like Jericho…the fans bombarded the knucklehead execs and Jericho got another season. We have to take the fight to NBC-email, snail mail-whatever it takes to let them know that Kings is a awesome show worth investing in.

July 19, 2009 at 3:45 pm
(55) ted goody says:

4 shows and then canceled this kind of show takes time to build its one of those shows that you pick up will around the fourth show and watch for the next 5 to 10 years and u buy the seasons on dvd I hope someone picks this up or NBC gets a clue and they wonder why their last …well I i did just find a show on NBC that looks good but I DARE NOT SAY THE NAME OF IT OR NBC WILL CANCEL IT …..

July 19, 2009 at 6:30 pm
(56) Hope says:

I can’t believe, finally, something worth watching on tv and now it’s going to be cancelled?? Shame on you NBC and shame on you that you broadcast in Canada but you won’t let Canadians leave comments on your .com site. This was one of the best shows I’ve ever watched and the only show that I want to make sure I’m home to watch, commercials and all. How sad you “can’t find a time slot”. I can make a few suggestions as to how you can free up an hour any night of the week. :(

July 19, 2009 at 6:35 pm
(57) denise says:

KINGS,one of the best shows ever, NBC you should think again, this show has a following. Great writing, acting, it’s got it all. That’s it. Because it has it all you will cancel it and replace it with some dumb ass show that gives us one more reason to never turn on NBC again. I hope someone else picks it up, it’s the only show on that was worth the time. Ciao

July 20, 2009 at 6:34 am
(58) Brian says:

This was one of the few shows that I actually look forward to watching, and now NBC is going to get rid of it!! You Guys really need to rethink what is good TV and keep the good shows going, get rid of that crap like i’m a celebrity get me outta here. This is crap.

July 25, 2009 at 9:50 pm
(59) Christian says:

Heaven forbid any series that appears to show there is a God stay on television. We are bombarded with sick reality shows and anti-Christian programs. What a sad and destructive path television and our great nation in general is set on. God help us all.

July 25, 2009 at 10:00 pm
(60) Ken Hunter says:

Terrible mistake. I almost never watch NBC–or any of the networks, for that matter–but Kings pulls me in (if you’ll pardom the expression) religiously. It’s a very original treatment of a timeless story that’s usually told as a children’s tale. It’s well acted and produced. If Kings is pulled, I will just go back to USA or TNT where they make good shows and stick with them.

July 26, 2009 at 12:16 am
(61) BritGirl says:

Pissed pissed pissed. BRING BACK KINGS!

July 26, 2009 at 11:50 am
(62) Carl says:

Probably the best network television show that I have ever seen is being laid to waste without ever giving it a chance. In league with some of the best dramas from even HBO or Showtime I must say NBC dropped the ball om this. The writing, the acting, everything about this show made it a win. Besides the fact that they started it mid season and let it go before ever getting to build an audience. It is a travesty that executives obviously have no foresight for good entertainment anymore. It is all bottom line dollars with no sense. But shows like “Who wants to be cannibalized by a millionaire” will keep coming and coming. I am appalled by the direction television is going.

July 26, 2009 at 3:40 pm
(63) Terry says:

What a shame you’ve canceled Kings. Favorite show on the air! You’re pandering to those who prefer sensational drama or ridiculous comedy. Kings had great writing and a strong story. Bring it back.

July 26, 2009 at 5:37 pm
(64) Old Testament says:

Not surprising is the fact that the same big wigs at NBC that have decided to cancel KINGS are the same that decided to air even one episode of “I’m A Celebrity Get Me Outta Here”. WOW! NBC! Bring Kings back!!!!!!!!! Now that leaves me with only one great show on NBC and that is “LIFE”. Mess with this one and thats one less loyal veiwer for NBC forever.

July 26, 2009 at 7:19 pm
(65) ac says:

Yet another BIG NBC mistake. How long can they keep cancelling good shows for and keeping shows on that have absolutely no substance? KINGS was the best new show I have seen in about 10 years, and they don’t even give it a chance!! With all these cancellations and all these angry fans moving to CBS or FOX, I see why NBC stands for “No Body Cares” !

July 26, 2009 at 8:51 pm
(66) chris says:

This was possibly the most promising show in a long time. Goodjob NBC, way to suck.

July 26, 2009 at 11:22 pm
(67) Jaimie says:

Kings was an amazing show, I can’t believe it’s been canceled. It was one of the most promising series currently on. The last five episodes were so intense and once again amazing.

July 27, 2009 at 12:06 pm
(68) Chris says:

I’ll add myself to the list of people that are pissed. My girlfriend and I watched this show every week, and recently decided we are only going to watch the shows that are scheduled on our DVR to cut back on so much tv. Now, we have one less show to watch. Guess NBC just lost some revenue with that decision. Way to go guys!

July 27, 2009 at 1:44 pm
(69) CrushonSilas says:

Last time I give NBC a chance….it’s too disappointing to start a show, love a show, and lose a show. I was so psyched to come home and catch on my DVR. I hope someone else picks it up. Boycotting NBC.

July 27, 2009 at 4:13 pm
(70) Emily says:

NBC really must be run by a bunch of idiots. Kings is an amazing show, the only drama series worth watching anymore. Maybe it’s more expensive to make than those dumb reality shows, but it’s so much better! Plus I spent at least $40 buying all the episodes of season 1 from iTunes, despite the fact that they’re also online (in poor quality), it’s that good of a show. There outta be some money to be made from such a unique and amazing show. I really hope a cable channel or someone picks it up, they’ve set it up for a really great season 2!

July 27, 2009 at 4:35 pm
(71) Kamil says:

Awesome show. I can’t believe how stupid someone can be to cancel it. Complete shame on NBC. I would be ready to pay for a cable channel if it were shown there. Boycott NBC.

July 27, 2009 at 7:43 pm
(72) jkb says:

I liked Kings and would faithfully watch. I hope NBC will reconsider or perhaps sell the show to a different station to produce.

July 27, 2009 at 8:55 pm
(73) Janna says:

Okay all I want to know is IF we can get Michael Green to write a second season and get another network to air it. NBC needs to start listening to its viewers rather than looking at charts. We love KINGS and we want to continue watching it… We don’t care what channel as long as it is showing.

July 28, 2009 at 1:40 am
(74) Jimmy says:

Please bring the show back it was magnificent. I was captivated into the story and it pulled me out of reality for a brief 44 minutes. This was a moment I can relax and live in a fantasy world. DAMN NBC always pulling a good show and replacing it with junk. I am sick of you guys. BACK TO FOX with HOUSE. You see fox is smart they build a show and keep it going strong then they build another show similar to it but show a different aspect of life. For instance Mental their new show that airs on Friday.

July 28, 2009 at 1:43 am
(75) SJS says:

Bring it BACK!!!!!

July 28, 2009 at 10:13 am
(76) Brian says:

I will miss this show. In the era when tv is filled with fake reality shows and medical dramas I truly will miss my hour of pure pleasure. NBC should be ashamed of themselves.

July 28, 2009 at 11:03 am
(77) jim eckl says:

Great show. Last episode left many unanswered questions. I will by the DVD. I want this show back

July 28, 2009 at 3:05 pm
(78) Guy says:

Sad that a piece of real original television is getting thrown away. I guess its going to get replaced by yet another cop/lawyer/doctor show. The worst part is how much material was left on the floor on this one.

July 30, 2009 at 1:35 am
(79) Dan says:

Truly an HBO-quality show that NBC really dropped the ball on. Some network, whether it be NBC or not, needs to bring this show back to fruition.

July 31, 2009 at 12:45 pm
(80) Lou Calibur says:

I can honestly say I can’t think of anything good about NBC. They aired Kings and I guessed realized that it was a show way out of it’s league! Hope someone else picks it up. Hey NBC “YOUR FIRED” Stick to the crap you know cause you don’t have anymore FRIENDS around here

August 1, 2009 at 1:21 am
(81) Spencer says:

I just finished the last episode – I was faithful to “Kings” – what a shame that NBC canceled it…it had everything. Now another good show bites the dust.

August 1, 2009 at 8:27 pm

SO disappointed that this show got canceled. We followed it the entire summer ON huLU! NBC needs to learn from USA … summer and winter hiatus shows can get followers! I will not start watching another show on NBC. I hate that i get sucked into a series and they leave it so up in the air! Not getting sucked into anything else NBC has to offer! grumble!

Seems like everytime something interesting comes on it will not last long but put a reality show (which are just plain stupid), The Apprentice type shows or something of the like, they keep on. I liked Kings, Lipstick Jungle but they never keep anything on that normal people might like on. I think I will quit NBC!

I miss Kings so much already… and it’s only the first Sunday that is hasn’t been on. It’s not fair! First they cancel Passions on me… and now they are canceling Kings. NBC isn’t worth it anymore. This show had EVERYTHING! Excitement, Drama, Romance, Morality, and actually made you think! I don’t know about anyone else, but I could NOT wait for Sundays to get here!! There is nothing left for NBC but for the whole network to be put off air. YOU SUCK!

(86) Erica says:

NBC, please bring back Kings! It is one of the best shows ever. Most of what is on TV is garbage. Kings not only has great actors (Ian McShane is incredible!), but is intelligently written.

(87) Nick says:

a Brilliant show that was the PERFECT DRAMA!! Of course they take the only show that was worth watch off the air. What a horrible idea. Well the network that, hopefully, picks this up would be very smart to do so.

(88) Nick Farrow says:

I totally agree. NBC made a big mistake on this one.But I not totally surprised. I knew NBC made bad decisions when they canceled Friday Night Lights. Hopefully another network pick up Kings. It be ideal for HBO.

(89) Aaron Holly says:

That was one of the better shows on network television. It is a SHAME that it is getting cancelled. What will it be replaced with? Some lame “reality tv show?” An American Idol rip off? Sad to see an engaging show with higher ideals and depth lost to the need for mindless drivel on American tv now. A race to the bottom.

(90) Dan says:

While not perfect, this show was better than 95 percent of everything else on television. If a premium network picked up this show, we would subscribe to it. It definitely deserved two seasons.

(91) Sean says:

It’s a shame that they cancelled this show, but the “Finale” kinda left it open to continue if they really wanted to. Cross your fingers and hope they reconsider. I really liked this show.

AGAIN!!! Every time my husband and I get involved with a good show on NBC it gets pulled! Now we will wait until at LEAST the third season begins to see if it will be worth our time getting interested in. Oh and we don’t watch reality shows AT ALL so I guess NBC is off at our house

KINGS CANCELLED! ONE MORE REASON TO NOT TURN THE DIAL TO NBC! I AM WATCHING LITTLE OR NOTHING ON NBC NOW AS THEY ONLY HAVE RERUNS OR UNINTERESTING PROGRAMS

(94) JB says:

Quite possibly the best new show on TV except you cant find it on TV. Who was the idiot that jerked it around 3 or 4 different time slots and then abandoned it at the doorstep of stupid TV. Watch the ratings NBC, you will regret canceling this one!

My wife and I watched this show every Monday evening on the DVR. Saturdays did not work so recording it was a great option. Sucks they cancelled this show, both genders here really looked forward to it….a shame.

(97) Don Kilgore says:

Kings was an excellent new show that gave everyone who enjoyed it a break from reality TV, which truly isn’t TV at all. It is important to stimulate imagination in your audience. This show did that, and unfortunately, like many of the other posts, we will have to wait for something else to come along to stimulate that imagination again. It’s a sad state of affairs… Remember some of the best shows have take more than 5 shows to be successful.

(98) Charles says:

I really enjoyed the serie. I looked forward to the ongoing and developing characters & storylines. I found this show to be far superior to most of the programs on network TV. NBC has made a bad decision with the cancelation of KINGS. I would follow the show to a premium network and pay to see a show with strong story lines and writing like Kings continue and build a strong following. NBC did not find a strong time slot to air the show and did not promote the show nor did NBC give it any time to build an audience. I had to check on line to discover that the show had resumed in June on Saturday evening. I never saw a commercial promoting it’s return or scheduled rebroadcasts of the earlier episodes to expose the show to more of the NBC’s network audience. I hope that another network will realize NBC’s mistake and pick-up the series.

(99) George says:

I refuse to watch NBC anymore if this show is not returned. At last a sophisticated series with a magnificent plot and a gifted cast.
Instead of killing the show try marketing it, why aren’t the producers and actors on shows like conan to promote the series. I’m done with NBC because you just can’t stick to anything interesting.

(100) Jameson Guthrie says:

You wonder why your network has falling ratings…becasue you don’t invest in people’s interest long enough to make it work…reality TV is DEAD!!! Bring back Kings and you will see a following grow and grow. Answer me this, other than Kings, why is it you the network never get me to watch your TV, becasue you don’t understnad your market.

August 27, 2009 at 1:50 pm
(101) Brian Warner says:

I have to wonder if they drug test the program directors at NBC??? Why on God’s green earth would you cancel Kings??? If you want to know why it’s ratings may have sagged slightly it’s because you put too powerful a show in such a lousy timeslot. Better check your demographics, renew Kings, and place it in a time slot it deserves. It should play at a minimum Thursdays at 8PM. This show is the savior of your lousy network. If you cut it I sincerely hope another network sees it for what it’s worth!

(102) Robberto says:

Sadly, this is an indication of the viewing public. So many seem entertained with waiters and bus boys fighting for “head of household” or another TIRESOME love ballad from Idol.

Blech, cliche-ville. Honestly, is it just me or does everyone on Idol etc., sound exactly the same?

Reality will start to wain hopefully, I find other people’s live uninteresting…normal life is not really fit for TV, and watching people battle in stupid situations just isn’t entertaining.

Great show. First series I have liked in a long time. Planned to watch the second season and then of course gone. Guess I should just stick to reading books.

(104) Bobby says:

This is really a terrible decision on the part of NBC. They finally get a show that can get viewers and they throw it away b/c they don’t have the “numbers” that they were wishing for. Sorry to say it but some shows can’t magically become a hit in one season. Tons of faithful viewers would kill to see a season 2 if only for closure. NBC is looking for the next “Lost.” Good luck with that; you’ll never find it if you just toss you’re best shows out after one season.

(105) Judes says:

What a disappointment! I haven’t watched a TV series in 3 years… then, my friend told me about this show, I caught up on all the episodes online, to only discover after research that it’s canceled. The show was amazing. The story line was beautiful, the cast was perfect, the acting was flawless, it was a refreshing concept, infact, one I would of never imagined. I really hope another network picks it up. Maybe “syfy”–ever since they changed their logo they seem more fantasy orientated rather than science fiction.

(106) Mr, Nikko says:

Of all the bone headed things that NBC can do. Kings is not just a story that anybody can understand, I got my wife to watch the show, and she only watches reality shows. That tells you the kind of show that was created. BRING BACK KINGS !!!!!!

The moment you start to like the show and look forward to watching the show, it seems that they pulled the plug on it. Say it isn’t so. Apart from Heros, I loved Kings

(112) Fran says:

How stupid to cancel one of the best shows I ve seen in American tv, smart, original, I could go on and on…
But of course, it seems that producers are only open to “balloon boy and Kate plus 8 sub-standards”
shameful!

(113) Brienna says:

I am not truely impressed with NBC. I was in love with the story “Kings” and I was/am still dissapointed that they would tease peoples imaginations like that and then pull the plug. I don’t understand what they deal is, is it the money or the people that are in office that have issues? I loved that show”Merlin” as well. It was diverse and innocent. I had so much fun throwing myself in to the characters roles and having that escape.

So NBC Inc./company/network I formally resign as a viewer. It has been not a pleasure of mine to have someone take you for granid.

(114) linda says:

I am so sad that “KINGS” is not going to be on – I completely agree with all the comments – there are apparently many of us who were so looking forward to getting to know these interesting characters better – instead we get Jay Leno 5 nights a week – didn’t watch him before and am sure not going to in prime time – please reconsider and get “KINGS’ back on – there was so little substance for us to choose to watch – but that was one that I looked forward to seeing and we sure had to “look” for it – maybe that’s why the viewership wasn’t there.

(116) Luke says:

My wife and I loved this show. I must say I agree with several people here: It is a shame that they can’t give this show a full season and I chance to show its worth. The same thing happened with Jericho I feel. Just when I find a show I like, they decide to can it…if you want another good show, watch Fringe or Psych on Hulu, great stuff!

(117) Curtis says:

this show was absolutely the best show that i’ve seen on TV in the last few years. the casting was INCREDIBLE for this one; story was amazing (can’t go wrong with material that’s been around for over 4000 years – thank you Old Testament!), and the screenplay was perfection.

i really hope that this show poofs back into existence at some point; i am mourning the loss of another AMAZING show lost for some unknown reason.
