Dollhouse Renewal Shocker
Sunday May 17, 2009
Of all the "on the bubble" shows this season, one of the least likely series to be renewed has managed to do the impossible. Believe it or not, Fox's Dollhouse has scored a second season!
When Fox announced Dollhouse as a midseason show last year, I was beyond thrilled to have Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel) back in action and in my living room every week. However, when I learned that the show would air on Friday nights, my excitement quickly turned to dread since Friday's are a virtual graveyard for every network except CBS.
As expected, Dollhouse didn't exactly deliver stellar ratings. I thought for sure that the show was a goner. Imagine my surprise when The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Fox has given the series a 13-episode commitment.
Will the second season lure more viewers into the fold? If not, fans shouldn't expect Fox to be quite as accommodating and will likely pull the show from the schedule without hesitation if it under performs next year. It's never too early to campaign for your favorite show.
