Clark Kent may not yet be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but he has managed to do what no other drama on the CW (or the original WB) has been able to accomplish -- earn a 10th season. The CW has just renewed Smallville for one more season.
When the CW transplanted Smallville into the notorious Friday night "death slot," I was worried that its days were numbered -- especially as it was in its 9th season. When the show scored fairly well (by the CW's standards) in the key 18-49 demographic, I soon realized that the move may have actually given the network a foothold in the door on Fridays. The move worked suprisingly well.
To date, the CW has renewed 90210, Gossip Girl, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries for the 2010-2011 season. The network has yet to decide the fate of Melrose Place, One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected.
I do suspect that the 10th season will indeed be the last, so I'm hoping TPTB will do away with their "no tights, no flights" rule and finally allow Clark to fly (I can do without the tights). I would also love to see Lex Luthor return next year to stir the pot once again. What would you like to see the series end? Are you happy about the renewal or do you think it's time for the show to end? Sound off below.

I’m happy they renewed it. I’m also hoping they do away with the no flights rule. With the recent events surrounding Zod, they HAVE to let him fly soon.
Yes,
Lex Luthor and a “flying Superman” are a “MUST ” to end the series. Young Clark kent is fine as a non-flyer but adult Superman?????
It’s part of the fantasy, he has to fly with or without cape, tights etc… and continues the “Superman” comics tradition some of us enjoyed in our childhood!
I am so sad they are canceling the show. I am in love with “Smallville aka CK” and the show is great too.
There are so many angles they could take with this show with all the superheros out there. The show and those baby-blues just makes me smile every morning and every evening it is on. Don’t know what I will do without it really.
since a seer (forgot the superhero’s name) told Clark that one of his biggest foes would be Lex Luthor, it is time to bring Lex back for one last season. and for Clark and Lois to get together somehow. She is starting to look like a dumb smuck by being the only one that doesn’t know what he does.
