Another one bites the dust -- NBC has canceled J.J. Abrams spy drama Undercovers.
Between CBS and the CW passing on the back nine for Medium and Life Unexpected and HBO's announcement about the end of Big Love, it's been a bad week for us fans in TV land. Many critics (myself included) had expected Undercovers to appeal to audiences, especially since Abrams had already proved himself with the fan favorite drama Alias a few years back. The series started off with a whimper and the ratings never recovered. Nobody new was tuning in and the fan buzz has been minimal to date.
I have to give NBC credit for allowing seven episodes to air before pulling the plug. The networks usually hit the switch within a couple of weeks when a show is sagging in the ratings, but the networks seem to be giving these new series a chance to build an audience before making any rash decisions.
There are six episodes left, the next three will air on November 10, 17 and December 1. It's unclear when or if the remaining 3 episodes will ever see the light of day.
