Downton AbbeyThe Crawley family and their beloved servants will be back for another season...

The new season has yet to begin in the United States, but fans of Downton Abbey can go into season three knowing that the series will continue for the unforeseeable future. The series, which airs in the U.K. on ITV before crossing the pond, is scheduled to begin filming eight new episodes and a Christmas special in February 2013.

In a statement, Downton Abbey executive producer Gareth Neame said of the new season, "viewers can look forward to more drama, comedy, love, hatred, jealousy, rivalry, ambition, despair and romance."

The third season just finished its run a few weeks ago (with a Christmas special airing on December 25) on ITV and gets underway January 6 on PBS here in the States. As with previous seasons, the fourth season will air first in the U.K. before arriving in the States and will likely follow the same schedule as it has since the series premiered in September, 2010.
