Since the days when dramas such as Buffy, Angel and Smallville were born on the WB, I have found that this little network consistently produced some of the most compelling shows on network television. While the Nielsen ratings don't tend to favor any of the shows on the WB (and now the CW), make no mistake about it -- they have produced some of the most loyal fan bases of any other network. These shows have always proved that ratings do not tell the whole story and luckily, the CW listens to its fans (well, most of the time).
As a general rule, most sci-fi shows tend to lock in a more vocal fan base than a traditional drama. Whether it's due to the mythology/origins of its characters or just simply a camaraderie amongst viewers, these fans never have a difficult time finding a place online to share in their love and admiration of a particular series. This season, the CW's new sci-fi crime drama Beauty and the Beast has already spawned an impressive following in just the few months since its debut.
I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Beauty and the Beast star Austin Basis, who plays JT, Vincent's loyal and highly protective best friend. Many viewers probably also remember this talented actor from his role in the once-popular CW series Life Unexpected. Find out what Austin had to say about unusual fan encounters, television shows he can't miss and his intense role in the CW drama Beauty and the Beast.
