While AMC has yet to officially announce the renewal of The Killing, showrunner Veena Sud, along with executive producers Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin have returned to work. However, now that Rosie Larsen's murder has been solved, a new mystery will begin with brand new characters driving the resurrected drama. It's pretty likely Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, who played Seattle homicide detectives Linden and Holder, will return -- but they may be the only characters to return.
Variety reports that Billy Campbell, who played newly elected Seattle mayor Darren Richmond will not return. In addition, Rosie Larsen's devastated parents, Brent Sexton and Michelle Forbes, are also not expected to return.
Details of the deal between AMC and Netflix have not been revealed, but it's been rumored that AMC would air new episodes first before becoming available on Netflix.
Production is expected to resume in the next few months, with season three premiering this summer.
