Rae's Take:

New characters, new mysteries and a new baby on board comprise the fifth season of Alias. Die-hard fans of the show were devastated by the loss of Michael Vaughn, but in return, gained a brand new storyline, complete with savvy new CIA agents. Deception, secrets, lies and a whole lot of action is why we tune in every week -- and of course, the possibility that Vaughn might still be alive.

What if one day, as you're sitting down to lunch, some strange guy approaches you and invites you to become a part of a very elite and covert branch of the CIA? Sound crazy? This is exactly what happened to Sydney Bristow (portrayed by Jennifer Garner).

Joining what she thought was the CIA while still attending college, Sydney Bristow spends several years working as an operative for SD-6, a branch of a much larger terrorist organization. When Sydney discovers she is working for the people she thought she was taking down, she turns to the real CIA for help and soon becomes a double agent. With the help of Sydney and her father (portrayed by Victor Garber), the CIA successfully defeats SD-6.

Alias revolves around one major theme: Securing the Rambaldi artifacts. While the CIA is determined to secure these artifacts, one man (Arvin Sloan, portrayed by Ron Rifkin) makes it his one goal in life to insure that these prophesies are one day accomplished; even if it means putting the people he loves in mortal danger.
