Grey's Anatomy is not your typical medical drama. The relationships between the characters may be intense at times, but what I feel makes this show intriguing is the realism. I have watched scenes and thought, "I've been there, and I've been through that." The show realistically portrays the trials and tribulations these interns must go through in order to be successful not only in the operating room, but in life as well. Not only Tivo-worthy, but set it to series manager.Synopsis:
Enter the world of Seattle Grace Hospital, where residents and interns strive to become the best surgeons in the country -- but first they must tread the murky waters of life, love and relationships.The series focuses on Meredith Grey, a surgical resident trying to live up to the reputation of her famous mother, the brilliant Dr. Ellis Grey. After spending years taking care of her Alzheimer-stricken mother (who has since passed on) and failing to have a satisfying relationship with a man, Meredith continues to attempt to have a committed relationship with Dr. Derek Shepard (a.k.a. McDreamy).
Joining Meredith at Seattle Grace:
Cristina Yang - An incredibly talented and super competitive surgeon with very little empathy for her patients and fellow doctors. She was left at the altar by Dr. Preston Burke at the end of season three and has since thrown herself completely into her work.
George O'Malley - A lovable surgeon who could use a healthy dose of confidence. He was married for a short time to Dr. Callie Torres. Their marriage came to an end when he slept with Izzie.
Isobel 'Izzie' Stevens - If ever there were a doctor who cares too much for her patients, it would be Izzie -- in fact, her involvement with a patient almost put an end to her medical career.
Alex Karev - A bold and overly confident surgeon with a penchant for the ladies.
Miranda Bailey - Referred to as "The Nazi" because of her tough, no nonsense attitude with her interns and residents, but deep down, Miranda is fiercely loyal and would sacrifice everything for one of her fellow doctors.
Richard Webber - He may run the hospital, but Richard is the first to admit that he makes mistakes just like the rest of the doctors under his command.
Derek Shepherd - She may not know it, but Derek is the love of Meredith's life. This incredibly brilliant neurologist isn't afraid to take chances - both on and off the operating table.
