Synopsis:
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to begin going to therapy once a week? Would it change your life for the better?While they may be actors playing a character in therapy, HBO offers viewers a chance to go inside a session and then follow the progress of each patient as they go deeper into psychotherapy.
Psychotherapist Paul Weston gives everyone the impression that he has a successful practice and great family life, but in truth, Paul is heading downhill fast. With his marriage falling apart and his professional life not far behind, Paul seeks the help of his former supervisor, Dr. Gina Toll.
Each weekday night features a therapy session, with each patient returning the following week for another session.
The Characters:
Laura: MondayA beautiful anesthesiologist with relationship problems.
Alex: Tuesday
A pilot in the Navy who begins therapy after a disastrous bombing incident in Iraq that led to a heart attack. Alex quickly becomes a thorn in Paul's side as he continually questions Paul's skills as a therapist -- and then gets involved with Laura.
Sophie: Wednesday
A gifted young gymnast with aspirations of making it to the Olympics. She begins therapy following a suspicious accident to determine her emotional stability. Sophie comes loaded with emotional baggage involving her mother, father and coach.
Jake and Amy: Thursday
A married couple on the verge of divorce. Amy is a career woman, while Jake is struggling songwriter. Can these two stop fighting long enough to actually benefit from therapy?
Dr. Gina Toll: Friday
Even therapists need therapy. With his entire life falling apart at the seams, Paul seeks the help of his former supervisor. Although she is retired, Gina agrees to begin seeing Paul, but will their tumultuous relationship prevent her from really helping Paul?
Kate: Paul's Wife
Their marriage is slowly falling apart and it appears as if it's up to Kate to make Paul realize where their life is headed.
