Fox Announces 2012-13 Television Schedule

After canceling half their 2011-12 dramas, Fox heads into fall with only a couple of new dramas in the lineup. With House gone, Bones, Fringe and Glee are the only veteran dramas left, but if the ratings don't pick up next season, Fringe won't be the only series coming to an end.

Over the last couple of years, Fox has steadily slipped down the ratings ladder. American Idol no longer brings in tens of millions of viewers and Glee, the network's other former powerhouse has fallen to alarmingly low levels (I was honestly surprised it was even renewed) and Bones and Fringe bring in modest ratings at best. The one bright spot this season was the Kiefer Sutherland-led drama Touch, but even after a huge showing at the show's preview, the ratings were never spectacular after its initial airing.

Glee moves to Thursday nights this fall, a move that has historically turned out badly for Fox. However, it does follow The X-Factor and American Idol's results show, so it does have the benefit of a decent lead-in. As the show enters its fourth season, Ryan Murphy managed to get both Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson to come aboard for several episodes.

With the network teetering on life support, TPTB at Fox managed to convince film star Kevin Bacon to come aboard to try and revive the network to its former glory. Can Fox spring to life with only two new dramas arriving next season?

Canceled Dramas: Alcatraz, House (ended on its own accord), The Finder and Terra Nova.

Film superstar Kevin Bacon comes to the small screen in this white-knuckled thriller from Kevin Williamson (The Vampire Diaries and Dawson's Creek) about a retired FBI profiler (Bacon)who is desperately trying to hunt down a serial killer he caught years ago who has somehow used technology to create a small army of murderers. Can he catch this sociopath before the world is taken over by serial killers?
Cast: James Purefoy, Kevin Bacon, Maggie Grace, Shawn Ashmore, Valorie Curry, Adam Canto, Natalie Zea and Jeananne Goossen.
**As a side note: Rumor has it that Bacon has agreed to only appear in 15 episodes, so if that is indeed true, the show will either air 15-episode seasons of find a way to produce seven episodes without Bacon's character.

The Mob Doctor
A beautiful and promising thoracic surgeon at a prestigious hospital is forced to become a doctor for a local crime syndicate in South Chicago when she becomes indebted to them thanks to her brother's gambling problem.... for the rest of her life. Can she manage to balance both worlds without putting her life in danger?
Cast: Jordana Spiro, Zach Gilford, William Forsythe, James Carpinello, Jesse Lee Soffer and Jaime Lee Kirchner.
