As the Strike Team attempts to defuse racial tensions in the neighborhood, friction inside The Barn escalates with the arrival of Lieutenant Jon Kavanaugh (Forest Whittaker), an ambitious and determined Internal Affairs officer who is determined to bring down Vic Mackey and tear apart the Strike Team.

In the midst of all this uneasiness and mistrust, Dutch and Claudette’s work relationship takes a fall, Danny refuses to reveal the father of her baby and Julien struggles after he’s partnered with a rookie cop.

Fun Features Worth Checking Out

Aside from the high-quality episodes, be sure to watch the deleted scenes on each of the episode discs (1-3). My favorite feature is the I.A.D. piece. Do you know what really happens when Internal Affairs begins an investigation? It's not something the department takes lightly. Get the scoop on the real I.A.D. -- it'll be a eye-opening experience.

Is it Worth Your Hard-Earned Cash?

You bet! These days, people are finding instant gratification by downloading episodes or full seasons from iTunes, but the real test of a good DVD release are the special features. Unless a DVD has great features, I'd recommend downloading on iTunes, but in the case of The Shield, the special features, action-packed episodes, interviews, deleted scenes and the season six prequel make this DVD worth your hard-earned cash!
