Fox Announces the 2009-10 Television Lineup

Over the years, Fox has emerged as a major contender in the ratings war. Thanks to the enormous success of shows such as American Idol and House, Fox has managed to surpass former heavyweights NBC and ABC in that all-important 18-49 demographic.

Going into the 2009-10 television season, Fox is going to change the programming slate a bit by adding the successful summer series So You Think You Can Dance to the Tuesday/Wednesday time slots formally occupied by House and Bones during the fall season until American Idol takes their triumphant place on the schedule in January.

Why the big change? The network decided it would be a better tactic to not displace their dramas in the winter in order to make room for Idol. They also wanted to pair the sophomore seasons of Fringe and Lie to Me with successful series in hopes that they will continue to grow a bigger audience going forward. Playing musical time slots midseason is never a beneficial move, so I think this is great news for the fans, who tend to thrive on a fixed schedule throughout the season.

New Dramas Coming to Fox

Past Life - Midseason
Inspired by the book Reincarnationist by M.J. Rose, this fascinating new drama series delves into the question of whether or not we have lived before. The series focuses on two past life detectives, Kate McGinn, a determined and highly dedicated doctor who works at The Talmadge Center for Behavioral Health in New York City, and Price Whatley, former NYPD homicide detective who can't get over the accidental death of his wife. The two work together to "solve the mysteries of her troubled clients who suffer from present-day problems caused by past-life traumas."
Cast: Kelli Giddish as Dr. Kate McGinn, Nicholas Bishop as Price Whatley, Richard Schiff as Dr. Malachi Talmadge, and Ravi Patel as Dr. Rishi Karna.

Human Target - Midseason
The DC Comics graphic novel comes to life with this exciting new series about Christopher Chance, a private contractor/security guard who has dedicated his life to saving the lives of his clients. Chance is not your average security guard - he will place himself directly in the line of fire by completely integrating himself into his clients' lives. In addition to providing his unique brand of protection, Chance also uncovers the story behind each mission. What could possibly motivate someone to become a human target? The mystery behind that loaded question will slowly unravel as the series unfolds each week.
Cast: Mark Valley as Christopher Chance, Jackie Earle Haley as Guerrero, and Chi McBride as Winston.
