Grey's Anatomy: The Spin-Off

Wednesday February 21, 2007
NBC and CBS have proved over the years that creating a spin-off of a highly successful series can work. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that ABC is in the process of developing a spinoff of the hugely popular series Grey's Anatomy. The new series would revolve around the character Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd (played by Kate Walsh), the woman who was married to Dr. McDreamy and had an affair with McSteamy (how lucky is this actress!). Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes is reportedly creating a special May Sweeps two-hour episode of Grey's, which will lay the groundwork for the new series. Whether or not ABC actually picks up the new series won't be revealed until May, but one thing looks pretty clear -- Addison seems to be leaving Seattle Grace!

I’m glad for the change. Maybe they’ll bring in some new characters.

Ditch the sex! Can’t you write a good enough script without making the young people in our society think that multiple sex partners(outside of marriage)is normal and right? Thank you.

I love this show! Danny Duquet (sp?) needs to have a twin brother!!! So Izzy can hook up with his twin! George and Izzy should fall deeply in love!

I think that it’s WAY too soon for a spin-off – it’ll never work! We really don’t know the characters well enough at this point.

I think it would be most excellent if Addison & Sloan ran off into the sunset and started a show of their own, who’d miss them!?! They can take George’s wife as well! I’d kinda like to see where an off the wall / out of the blue relationship between the chief and a tall blond intern might go! Think of the rumors!!! wow, what fun…

I dont think that it is a very good idea! wont it take away from grey’s?? i think the show it just fine the way it is and i dont see why they need a spin off already!? the show is doing great and it is just way tooo soon for a spin off!!

I think it should be interesting. I disagree with the comment that we “don’t really know the characters well enough.” I used to hate Addison when she first came to Seattle Grace, but I have learned so much about her since then that i have fell in love with her character.

I have no prediction as to whether it will all work out or not, but I will definitely watch it.

I would watch any spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy but definitely not to see Kate Walsh–I don’t think she has the following and I won’t miss her at all on Grey’s. Actually it will be better without her. Any of the other female doctors could have carried a new spin off with a good following of viewers, but Kate just isn’t interesting or likeable enough.
