Rae's Take:

What mother-daughter relationship is completely uncomplicated? Lorelai and Rory Gilmore may have a closer relationship than most, but they still have more than their share of problems. Gilmore Girls portrays a realistic account of a mother and daughter struggling with their own personal issues. Add into the mix Lorelai’s own mother troubles and of course, the man factor and you have a recipe for complete chaos. Sound like someone you know? All too well, I’ll bet.

Synopsis:

Every mother and daughter has their own unique relationship, but Rory and Lorelai Gilmore (Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham) are also the best of friends.

Becoming a mother at the age of sixteen, Lorelai is well aware of the trouble teenagers are capable of getting themselves into. While still allowing her daughter to make mistakes, Lorelai continues to make mistakes of her own. However, the one thing she will never do is allow Rory to make the same mistakes she made as a teenager.

Lorelai's parents never let her forget the trouble she caused in her early years, which forces her to leave her parents behind to start a new life with Rory. Eventually, she must turn to her parents for financial help in order to give Rory a top-notch education.

This dramedy allows us to follow these dynamic women through their triumphs and downfalls. No matter what happens in their lives, they'll always have each other, and that is more than enough for Lorelai and Rory Gilmore.
