Desperate to discover why Arthur Petrelli created Pinehearst and launched an attack on Angela, Hiro goes back in time to the days before Arthur's apparent death.

Arthur wants to kill Nathan and uses his powers to convince Angela that is the right thing to do. Linderman uses his healing powers to free her of her husband's powers and when he does so, she is horrified to learn of what she was about to do to her son. She then poison's her husband. He fakes his death, but is left paralyzed.

During this flashback, we'll also see Sylar before he became the man he is today. How did he become a villain? Well, it looks as though Elle and H.R.G. could have made a huge difference if not for their involvement.

Meredith's blossoming career with the Company is hindered by her brother, who turns out to be one of the escaped prisoners from level 5.
