Sexy Vampires...Mischa Barton...Sydney Andrews...Michael Mancini...all on one network?! It almost doesn't seem fair to all the other kids on the block. It's happening this fall on the CW.
After renewing most of their dramas back in February, TPTB at the CW have been slaving over the 2009-10 television lineup. With the exception of Smallville, which will move to Friday nights for its ninth (and final) season this fall, no major changes have been made to the primetime schedule.
Did the CW pick a winning combination of new and returning dramas this year? Exciting things are happening this fall and for the first time since the WB and UPN became the CW, I am optimistic about the upcoming season.

New Dramas Coming to the CW
Melrose Place
The hit nighttime soap from the '90s returns with a whole group of beautiful 20-something men and women with their own set of secrets, problems and ambitions. Although she "died" immediately following her wedding, Sydney Andrews is alive, well and back to her blackmailing ways. As the landlady of the complex, Sydney will be at the center of all the drama. Also returning from the original series is Dr. Michael Mancini, whose son is having an affair with the lovely Sydney! Are audiences ready to move back into Melrose Place after 10 years? Take a seat, get comfy and watch the drama unfold.
Cast: Laura Leighton as Sydney, Thomas Calabro as Dr. Miochael Mancini, Stephanie Jacobsen as Lauren, Colin Egglesfield as Auggie, Ashlee Simpson as Violet, Shaun Sipos as David, Katie Cassidy as Ella, Michael Rady as Jonah, and Jessica Lucas as Riley.
Vampire Diaries
Based on the popular book series by L. J. Smith, this highly anticipated series will give viewers another great vampire tale to enjoy each week. Following the death of their parents, Elena and Jeremy Gilbert are trying to put the pieces of their broken lives back together. As a new school year begins, Elena's life is completely turned upside down by a handsome and mysterious new student named Stefan Salvatore. Little does she know that he is a centuries-old vampire who is trying to live a peaceful existence. Stefan's brother Damon, also a vampire, is the polar opposite and lives a life of violence. The only thing the two brother's share is their love for Elena. It will be an epic battle of good vs. evil in the quiet town of Mystic Falls, Virginia and no soul will be safe as long as Stefan and Damon fight for the woman they love.
Cast: Ian Somerhalder as Daman, Nina Dobrev as Elena, Paul Wesley as Stefan, and Steven R. McQueen as Jeremy.
The Beautiful Life
Have you ever wondered what life is like for a supermodel? This series delves into the glamorous and often tumultuous lives of two models who are just starting to make a name for themselves in the industry. As they are thrust into the limelight, they will have to quickly learn how to deal with success, rejection and most importantly -- those backstabbers who live among them.
Cast: Mischa Barton as Sonja, Corbin Bleu as Isaac, Nico Tortorella as Kai, Sara Paxton as Raina, Ben Hollingsworth as Chris, Ashley Madekwe as Marissa, Jordan Woolley as Egan.
